RE: TOW DOLLIE LIGHTS QUESTION

We towed with the same set up as you described, for three years and nearly 20K miles. We never had any functional lights on the dingy and never had any problems what so ever. You will hear some people say that you must have seperate lighting on the dingy and that some states actually require it. Can't speak about every state but we ask in several states and in each the authorities said that it was not required.
As long as your dolly lights are visible and operational I would not worry about anything more than that.

RE: This Sucks

See that big 2005 Fleetwood Excurision 39S you have in your signature? Take it and move south for the winter. There are many of us here.
The ONLY reason I live here is because this is where my wife lives....and she won't go because the kids live here....I'm stuck.
Hi Joe,
I can certainly relate to your sad delimma with the wife, kids and grandkids. Wish that we could move at least 6 or 7 hundred miles south of here. I have tried to convince the wife that we should move for some time now. Positive that both the daughters and their familys would follow us just about anywhere. Wouldn't really care whether that was southeast south or or southwest, just as long as it was a much warmer area. If I could ever sell the wife on this concept we'd be packing up within a few weeks.
Our weather here in NE Kansas totally sucks. We have about 7 months of winter, then 3 months of cool rainshowers about every 18 hours, then 2 weeks of great weather for camping, then 2 weeks of nearly unbearably intense heat and humidity, then 2 more weeks of ideal camping weather and then 2 weeks of coolish weather which we are now in and I guess that I need to get my rear end out there and winterize our big girl.

RE: We no longer have an rv- UPDATE Page 9

We were so very sorry to hear this terrible news. Thankful that you guy's, and the pets were able to escape without injury. You can always replace the basic material things. Knowing that you most likely had many other personal treasures that were lost in the fire will be un-replaceable and that is always awfully sad.
Hopefully your insurance provider will work hastily to get your claim settled quickly, and to your satisfaction.
Here is wishing you and Ronnie the very best for your future.
PS: That is really quite a way to celebrate Rebecca's Birthday.

RE: Tandem Tow Dolly

Check with "jimandsue60" about that. They have a real neat one that they tow a pickup truck on with it's front wheels up on the dolly and then they have a full sized Artic Cat ATV that is loaded from the side and it sets in front of the pickup. I am sorry but I can't tell you the brand name of the dolly.

RE: Outlook Express Cuts Off Print

I don't know the specifics but I have heard a lot of people are having major problems with IE 8. So much so that they were advising others to not download IE 8, and if they had already to delete it and it would revert back to IE 7.
Can't say that this had any effect on the printing functions or not.
Just my 2 cents worth.

RE: Diesel motorhome

I really don't see where she has gotten the idea that driving a diesel coach is harder than driving a gas powered coach.
To me that is just silly. That would be like saying that it drives easier because the bed sheets are blue instead of tan..........:?
Like others have said that with the diesel coach you will have the luxury of having an Exhaust or Jake Brake, which is very helpful plus it is so much quieter in the driving area that you can actually talk back and forth without having to shout over the engine noise.
I would just encourage that you get her to try driving both the gas and the diesel powered coach's. No matter what the features, floorplan, or other ammenities they might have, I am quite certain that she will lean towards the diesel unit after that.
Be certain and bring that checkbook along with you after she has driven the diesel coach.

RE: First time to tow - need advice

Have you looked closely at your owners manual ?
I would think that it would be addressed in the manual.
I really can't help you with the specifics on this vehicle, but I am sure that some one will chime in and give you some assistance.
Good luck, Larry

RE: Food Sliding in the Pantry

My wife uses a lot of that non-skid rubberish type material.
She also found some neat little short plastic tray containers. They are ideal to put a bunch of canned goods into and they will not slide around at all. They are about the size of a license plate and only about 2 inches tall. This way she can put similar types of canned good items, or spices, etc in one container and they are easy to pull out to select whatever you wanted and then slide it right back in place.

RE: Filling black tank

Sure just be careful not to but to much in. Think of RV the movie!
That could prove to be a mighty long trip home if you over fill it.
And an ugly one at that. :S :S :S

RE: Questions About Diesel MH

Tim,
Congratulations on the new coach.
I don't know this for a fact but was told by a Fleetwood rep, that all of the Fleetwood motor homes do activate the brake lights when the exhaust brakes are engaged. Not just when the switch is turned on, but when the exhaust brakes are actually functioning. Therefore on a long hill it would appear that you were riding the brakes.
I know that our Discovery's brake lights come on when the exhaust brakes are engaged.

RE: Protocol for rest areas on Interstates...?

I would suggest a couple of different ideas, each of which are located a few miles east of the Kansas City area.
The furthest east is a couple of nice big truck stops. They are located approx 50 miles east of KC. There is one on the north side of I70 and then the other one is on the south side of the interstate at the very same exit. Both of them are good sized truck stops with all typical services and they are well lighted at night.
Sorry but I can not tell you specifically at what mile marker they are located, but it is very close to 50 miles east of the city.
The other suggestion is a nice campground. It is located at the Grain Valley Exit, on the south side of the I70. It is Trailside RV Park. It is a Good Sams Park. They have 100 campsites, 50 amps, and full services. It is right next door to Trailside RV Sales and Service. You can check them out their web site or can call them at
800-748-7729.
Just some ideas about the local area, just east of Kansas City.
Good luck, Larry
PS: We have not noticed any snipers at any one of
these locations. :)

RE: Need hints to get the fan shroud off a Fleetwood Discovery

Hi there Darrel,
Let me first welcome you to this great forum. There are some extremely well talented folks on here.
We also have an 05 Discovery, 39J model. Bought it new and have loved it ever since. We have just about 30K miles on our "Big Honey"
and have towed a vehicle most all of those miles.
Have you had yours very long?
We had a little bit of overheating problems several months ago and found that our coolant level was actually a little low. We topped that off and it corrected our problem.
What made you think that you should try to clean the inner cooler behind the radiator?
I think that I would most likely turn that over to the repair shop folks to solve. Don't think that I would want to tear into something like that myself.
I'll be anxious to hear how this evolves and if you were able to solve the overheating problem.
Good luck, Larry

RE: fleetwood discovery 40G

We have an 05 Discovery, 39J model.
Ours has the two facing couch's in the living area.
The one behind the driver has 3 seatbelts. We do not but have seen others that they have installed additional seatbelts on the opposite couch. Don't know why you couldn't do that also.
I am sure that you will really like the coach.
Good luck, Larry

RE: Need wiring diagrams for '05 Discovery pusher

Hi Ryan,
Sorry to hear of your problems.
We have the very same coach. Well it may not be the exact model number, but it is the same brand and year. Ours is a 39J model.
We actually had what sounds like the very same problem about one year ago. We had to take it in and they found that all of our house batteries were bad. They replaced those 4 batteries and it has worked like a charm ever since then.
Think that I would try to get it in for some service.
Good luck, Larry

Thanks for the info.
I'll have my ex-son-in-law tackle the problem. He does hardwood floors now, but use to be a carpet installer.
